13.1 in Seabrook 2011

On March 19th, Dusty and I joined the other Katy Youngblood's and ran 13.1 miles in the Seabrook Lucky Trails Marathon. We had a blast and learned a lot of great tips for next years run. Our final chip time was 2 hours and 43 minutes. We consider this GREAT, since Dusty had developed 3 bone spurs a few months before the race. Plus, not to mention that I had only ran outside once before the marathon and it was only 5 miles. We just started training for next year's race this past week. I am so pumped right now and I hope my motivation last all year. Our goal is to run the 1/2 marathon next year in 2:15 (although, I am secretly striving for a 2 hour run-ha!).

Tips for next year:

*I am not aloud to stop for a potty break (saves at least 5 minutes from waiting in line).*

*No walking at the water stations. Keep up the pace or a slower run pace.*

*Stock up on Power Gel Blasts. Favorite flavor is the strawberry banana with caffeine.*

*Might consider wearing a camel back to save from stopping at water stations.*

*Wear a watch to see the time.*

*Double check to make sure Dusty packs his running shorts...to keep from searching for a Wal-mart at 5 am, before the start of the race!*

*lose 20 pounds*

All of us after the marathon: Me, Dane, Kirsten, and Dusty

My cool niece, Abbi, kicking butt and finishing her leg of the relay. Marissa ran first, so I wasn't able to get a picture of her.

So proud of you guys! That's awesome! My friends have trying to get me to train for a 1/2 marathon here, maybe one day...
