Jake and his eyes

After failing 2 vision test at school, we finally made it around to taking Jake to the eye doctor (actually, we finally took him in after we realized he couldn't see the score board at the baseball field--I know, parents of the year award!). Well, Jake ended up needing glasses. It turns out, his eyes are pretty much like mine---BAD! The eye doctor said he should be fine with not wearing the glasses while he is playing sports this year, but next year, he will probably need to get sports goggles or contacts. Let's just hope that we can get him to eat his carrots and his eyes will improve!

Just kidding!  Here he is with his Nike glasses on....

 

Good thing we purchased the insurance policy on the glasses....2 weeks after wearing them he fell asleep with them on.  The dog ended up getting a hold of them and chewing them to pieces!!!!

On a positive note--they were fully replaced! Thank goodness!!!!!!!! 

Tiger Baseball

Jake played for the Tigers this year.
He did an amazing job!
He played 3rd base and was the 1st batter to lead the team off.
He was known for his "quickness and speed!"

The Tigers made it to the Consolidation  bracket and had a crazy and amazing triple play at the end that helped them win the game!!

Aggies

Where has time gone?? 
My goal now is to get our blog caught up!
Basketball season has come and gone and I haven't written anything about it!
Jake, played for the 3rd grade Aggies, as point guard.  Cameron was on a waiting list, but a team was never formed.  He was a champ and cheered/coached his brother from the side lines.
I have to brag on Jake though. This kid has MAD skill for the game of basketball.  He rocked every game and practice.  His future is in basketball and I know he will go far.

JJ, the baller

Jake recently represented his elementary school in a  free throw hoop shoot contest.  He made the most free throws out of all the 8-9 year boys in his school.  He made 13 out of 15. He advanced to the district level and competed against other students from his school district.  If he had won at this division he would have competed in Dallas and then would have had the chance to go to Springfield, Massachusetts and have his name in the Basketball Hall of Fame. 
Jake came in 4th place in the district competition.  He did so incredibly awesome and we are so proud of him.  I can't believe how much skill and passion he has for the game of basketball. 
Here is the video of him at the district competition where he came in 4th place.  He plans on being number 1 next year!

Round 1 of the contest:  5 warm up shots and then 10 shots.  Jake made 8 out of 10.

 

 

Round 2 of the contest:  No warm up and goal was to make 15 shots. Jake made 9 out of 15.  His nerves started to get the best of him.

 

 

We are so very proud of him!!!

Benjamin Franklinstein Lives!/painting pumpkins

The other night we decorated the kids pumpkins for the boys school project. They had to pick their favorite character from a book and create that character on the pumpkin. The character pumpkins are put on display in the school library for all to see (no carving allowed though!). Jake picked Benjamin Franklinstein, from the book, Benjamin Franklinstein Lives! Cameron picked an Avenger picture book and designed Captain America. Cameron's pumpkin was still super wet with paint the morning we needed to take the pumpkins to school, so we just brought Franklinstein to the school and added both of the boys name to it. I think they turned out Super awesome!!! Just in case you are wondering....we used silly putty to create the noses on both of the pumpkins! Caroline went to town with the paints. She is such a little designer!
